Frame data

What is frame data? How fighting games measure every move in frames: startup, active and recovery, and what plus and minus frames mean.

Frame data is the set of numbers that describe each move in a fighting game, counted in frames: startup before the move can hit, active frames when it can hit, and recovery before the character can act again. Frame advantage, written as plus or minus, tells you how many frames sooner than the opponent you can act after the move.
