Game engines

Game engines A to Z: who built each one, its versions, and the games made with it.

A game engine is the software a studio builds a game on: it draws the picture, runs the physics and sound, and gives the team its editor and tools. Some studios write their own and keep it in house; others license Unreal or Unity, or use the open-source Godot. Each engine page gives its history, its versions and the games made with them.
