Save scumming

What is save scumming? Reloading saves to undo bad luck or mistakes, why roguelikes forbid it, and how players do it anyway.

Save scumming means reloading a saved game, or copying save files, to undo a bad outcome or reroll a random one until it goes your way. Many players consider it unfair, and it is a common topic in roguelikes, where death is meant to be final.
